My new Dungeons and Dragons group met for a session to build characters so that we can get right into the action for our first session next week. I'll be running the Curse of Strahd module for 4 players, starting at level 1. It looks to be an interesting party, including a chaotic-evil penguin, a chaotic-neutral dinosaur, and an androgynous Tiefling that may attempt to create a Frankenstein like necromancy project on the side.
For two of my players, it will be the second group they have played with, though they did not play much with their previous groups. The other two players have never played before, so it'll be interesting to see how things work out. I am new(ish) to D&D as well, and I will be taking my first steps into the role of the DM. I am excited to get things started, and to see how this crazy party fairs against Strahd. So now, let's meet the party!
Mittens: chaotic-evil Penguin Bard
John Schmidt: chaotic-good Human Fighter
The Indombidable Sam: chaotic-neutral Tiefling Warlock
unnamed: chaotic-neutral Saurian Rouge
The party certainly has its quirks, both Sam and the Saurian took the Charlatan background, and plan to be scam artists, Mittens the penguin is a hopeless romantic whose love was killed by a "pillaging pack of paladins", or so she says, and John Schmidt is named after his godfathers, Jacob and Jingleheimer (who was apparently a reindeer).
I think this party will be an interesting one to go up against Strahd. I plan on having him try to turn Mittens against the party, due to her evil nature. Then again, they are all chaotic, so he may take advantage of that nature as well.
